On June 30, 2019, a stowaway fell from a Kenya Airways plane at an approximate height of 3,500ft (1,067m) in London, sparking a mystery that has now been solved.

According to SkyNews, the deceased was identified as Paul Manyasi, a cleaner who worked for Colnet, a company contracted by Kenya Airports Authority to provide cleaning services at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

However, Kenya Airports Authority has denied that Paul Manyasi was an employee at JKIA, stating that his name does not appear in their staff register or airport pass biometric register.

Investigations by a multiagency team revealed that there was no record of Paul Manyasi working at JKIA, contradicting reports that he was a cleaner at the airport.

Armed with pictures of the items that were carried by the stowaway, a SkyNews reporter came to Kenya to find out who the man was and traced him back to his roots in western Kenya where his belongings were identified by the family.

Interestingly, when the reporter requested for an audience with KAA manager, he was turned down only for the Authority to issue a statement after the story was aired.
