Infinix Hot 8 Battery Life Review: Does it Live Up to the Hype?

Published on November 13, 2019, Infinix launched its latest smartphone, the Infinix Hot 8, making some bold claims about its battery life. We put the device to the test to see if it lives up to the hype.

One of the key claims made by Infinix is that the battery lasts for up to 4 days. However, this comes at a cost, as it takes the device up to 3 hours to be fully charged. We were given a test unit of the device and spent several weeks testing its battery life.

Our testing revealed that the Infinix Hot 8's battery life is impressive, but not quite as long as claimed. The farthest we were able to stretch the device on any given day was 3 days, which is still a significant achievement. However, this is a day short of the claimed 4 days.

It's worth noting that our testing involved a mix of internet use on both mobile networks and wireless hotspots, as well as several hours of voice calls and social media use. The device's location services were also under constant pressure.

Despite the slightly shorter battery life than claimed, the Infinix Hot 8 still managed to impress us with its endurance. In fact, it's more impressive than many other smartphones we've tested this year, which have been much more expensive.

However, there are some drawbacks to the device's battery life. The charging time is quite long, taking around 2.5 hours to fully charge from 3%. This is annoying, but it's worth noting that the massive battery size means you can often get away with charging it to 40 or 50% and still have enough power for most of the day.

Another negative aspect of the device is its use of microUSB instead of the more modern USB Type-C. This is a shame, as USB Type-C is now a common sight on budget devices.

Overall, the Infinix Hot 8's battery life is impressive, but not without its drawbacks. If you're in the market for a budget smartphone with a long-lasting battery, the Infinix Hot 8 is definitely worth considering.
