Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick has not played in the league since the 2016 season, when he started 11 games for the 49ers and the team finished 2-14.
On Saturday, Kaepernick will work out for N.F.L. clubs in Atlanta, giving them the opportunity to see him on the field and interview him, according to ESPN.
Adam Schefter, an ESPN reporter, tweeted that the league arranged the meeting, allowing clubs to evaluate whether to sign Kaepernick.
As previously reported, Kaepernick settled a grievance against the league's teams in February, alleging that they colluded to keep him out of the N.F.L. after he protested police brutality and social inequity by kneeling during the national anthem.
