On November 12, 2019, a Thai courtroom witnessed a deadly shootout that left three people dead, including two lawyers and the gunman.

The incident occurred during a hearing into an inheritance dispute at the Chanthaburi provincial court, approximately 250 kilometers southeast of Bangkok.

According to police, the gunman opened fire on the opposing side in the dispute before a guard shot back and fatally wounded him.

Three people, including the assailant, were confirmed dead, while others were injured in the melee, said National police office spokesman Krissana Pattanacharoen.

"Two are lawyers, another one is the shooter," he said, adding that they are still investigating why the courtroom feud turned deadly.

Gruesome images of the bloody courtroom scene circulated on social media, highlighting the high rates of gun ownership and petty personal disputes in Thailand.

The incident is the latest in a series of high-profile courthouse shootings that have exposed flaws in the legal system's security.
