On November 12, 2019, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) welcomed a new Director General, George Njao, who took over from Francis Meja.
The appointment was made by the NTSA board, chaired by Alice Chesire, following a rigorous interview process that began in February 2019.
George Njao brings over 15 years of experience in the transport sector, specifically in safety management, to his new role.
NTSA's new Director General holds a Master's degree and a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Missouri State University in the United States.
Under Njao's leadership, the authority will be boosted by a review of its organisational structure and significant changes in management, including the appointment of new directors: Badu Katelo as Director Road Safety, Christopher Wanjau as Director Registration and Licensing, and Shalakha Shem as Deputy Director Supply Chain Management.
