On November 12, 2019, the Kenya Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) issued a statement denying any involvement in the ongoing dispute between the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut).
According to Kuppet Secretary-General Akelo Misori, the union is not in competition with Knut over teacher representation and has not received any favors from the TSC.
Mr. Misori emphasized that Kuppet's main concern is the weakening of Knut, which he believes would be detrimental to the education sector and the trade union movement as a whole.
He also denied allegations that Kuppet has lured Knut members to defect, stating that such an attempt would be futile given the significant difference in membership numbers between the two unions.
Instead, Mr. Misori claimed that Knut has been actively recruiting Kuppet members with gifts, further highlighting the perceived rivalry between the two unions.
