On November 12, 2019, a devastating fire broke out at Mombasa Hospital, the largest private hospital in the county, with a 125-bed capacity.

The fire started at around 8.30pm in the children's ward, where 117 nurses were on duty at the time.

Despite the chaos, firefighters were quick to respond, evacuating patients to the nearby Pandya Hospital.

A video shared on online platforms shows the fierce flames engulfing sections of the hospital, leaving the cause of the fire still unknown.

Located in Mvita subcounty, Mombasa Hospital is a major healthcare facility in the region.
