On November 12, 2019, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) announced the appointment of George Njao as its new Director General, effective on a three-year term.
Njao's appointment follows a rigorous interview process spearheaded by the NTSA Board after its inauguration in February 2019. The Board's acting chairperson, Dr. Alice Chesire, stated that Njao's extensive experience in the transport sector, specifically in safety management, presents a great opportunity for the Authority.
With over 15 years of experience in the transport sector, Njao holds a Master's degree and a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Missouri State University in the United States.
Njao takes over from Francis Meja, who successfully completed his full contract term. Additionally, the NTSA Board has appointed Badu Katelo as the Director, Road Safety, Christopher Wanjau as the Director, Registration and Licensing, and Shalakha Shem as the Deputy Director, Supply Chain Management, to boost the Authority's performance.
