On November 12, 2019, Silverstone Air announced that it had suspended its operations following the government's move to suspend its Dash 8 fleet in response to two successive air mishaps involving planes owned by the airline.

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) had grounded the airline's Dash 8 fleet for a week due to safety concerns raised over the airline's operations.

The suspension of flights comes after two of Silverstone's aircraft were involved in successive mishaps at the Wilson and Lodwar airports, including a crash at the Wilson Airport and a wheel falling off a Dash 8-300 upon take-off at Lodwar airstrip.

According to the KCAA Director General Gilbert Kibe, all other models of Silverstone planes would operate normally as they await the outcome of the ongoing investigations.

‘In compliance with the @KCAA_Kenya directive to suspend operations on our Dash 8 fleet, we have temporarily suspended all our scheduled services, the safety of our passengers, crew and aircraft remain our highest priority’ the airline tweeted.
