Published on November 12, 2019, England national team coach Gareth Southgate has made a surprising decision to recall Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling for the Euro 2020 qualifier against Montenegro on November 14.
The 24-year-old had been sent home from the Three Lions camp following a report of an altercation with Liverpool star Joe Gomez, which left Gomez with a scar below his right eye.
According to sources, the rest of the team made a case for Sterling to stay in the squad ahead of their trip to Kosovo, provided Gomez accepted a personal apology.
Southgate has now brought forward a planned media briefing by 24 hours to face questions on the incident, which has taken all focus off the match against Montenegro.
It is reported that Sterling would not be available for the Three Lions after he was reportedly 'trying to grab Gomez around the neck'.
However, it remains to be seen if Sterling will be selected for the clash, as the team's decision to recall him has sparked a lot of debate.
