On November 10, 2019, Kisumu All Stars secured their first win of the season in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) against Kariobangi Sharks, thanks in part to new six-month contracts given to the team by the county government of Kisumu.
According to head coach Henry Omino, the contracts motivated the players and gave them a sense of ownership by the county government.
“Definitely, to get new contracts motivates a lot and the boys now understand that they are owned by the county government,” he said.
Omino expressed confidence that his team would continue to perform well, citing their next match against Wazito FC as an opportunity to showcase their improved skills.
On the other hand, Kariobangi Sharks player Samuel Olwande emphasized the importance of focus in their next fixture against Ulinzi Stars on November 21 at MISC Kasarani.
“We only want a win in our next match and I believe we will have a better performance than this,” Olwande said.
