Four police officers have been suspended after a video emerged showing them brutally assaulting a student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

The officers, one from Makongeni Police Station and the other from Juja Police Station, were identified after Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai announced on November 12, 2019, that they would face severe legal action.

According to Mutyambai, the officers were given 24 hours to surrender or face arrest.

On November 12, 2019, Mutyambai expressed gratitude to Kenyans who shared the video, which showed the officers beating the student with sticks and slaps.

Earlier, students at JKUAT had reported two of their colleagues missing, claiming they had been killed in a week under unclear circumstances, with no action taken by the university.
