On November 12, 2019, a sense of unease settled over Lukume village in Malava area of Kakamega County following the brutal murder of a 35-year-old woman by her son.
The incident occurred after a heated verbal exchange between the two over their family's property, which escalated into a violent attack by the son, leaving his mother dead.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect, who has since been arrested and taken into custody, displayed signs of mental illness, sparking concerns among locals.
Meanwhile, in Busia County, police launched an investigation into the murder of a form three student from Busijo Secondary School in Samia Sub County, who was attacked by unknown assailants and raped, along with her colleague.
Elsewhere, in Nasira village, Matayos constituency, one person was killed by unknown assailants, while another survived the ordeal and is recuperating at the Busia county referral hospital.
