On November 12, 2019, Silverstone Air temporarily grounded all its scheduled flights after the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) suspended its fleet of Dash 8 aircraft over safety concerns.
The airline, which has been operating in Kenya since 2017, assured its customers that they would be contacted to minimize any disruptions to their travels.
According to a statement by the airline, all scheduled services were suspended effective November 12, 2019, as the airline worked with its customers to mitigate any travel disruptions.
Additionally, KCAA suspended two other aircraft operators, SAC and Adventures Aloft, citing a lack of capacity to undertake safe operations on the Dash 8 series aircraft.
‘The above referenced exercise reveals lack of capacity to undertake safe operations on the Dash 8 series aircrafts,’ said KCAA director-general Gilbert Kibe in a notice sent to the three airlines.
