On 11 November 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta welcomed Lesotho Prime Minister Thomas Thabane to State House, Nairobi, for a three-day state visit. The visit marked the beginning of a new era of cooperation between the two nations.

Kenya and Lesotho signed three key co-operation deals, including an agreement on the establishment of a Joint Commission for Co-operation (JCC), a memorandum of understanding for bilateral consultations, and a memorandum of understanding in sports. The agreements aim to strengthen bilateral and political co-operation between the two countries.

Lesotho has a thriving textile sector, which is one of the most vibrant in Africa. The country has a growing share of the global apparel market, and Kenya is keen to learn from its experience in developing the textile sector as part of its Big 4 Agenda.

During the visit, President Kenyatta and Prime Minister Thabane held bilateral talks, which resulted in the signing of the co-operation deals. The deals are expected to boost trade and investment between the two countries.
