Manchester City's Premier League title hopes have taken a hit, with Liverpool now nine points clear after their 3-1 win at Anfield on Sunday.
According to reports, City are set to spend £100million in the January transfer window to try and catch up with their rivals.
The decision not to replace Vincent Kompany after his retirement has backfired, with the defence looking shaky in the absence of injured centre-back Aymeric Laporte.
City will also target replacements for midfielder David Silva, who is in his final season at the club, and Sergio Aguero, who is contracted until 2021 but is now 31.
Manager Pep Guardiola's decision to play midfielder Fernandinho out of position at centre-back has not provided the solution, with John Stones also having a spell out injured.
Phil Foden is being groomed as David Silva's successor in the City midfield, but is not yet being given a great deal of game time in the top flight.
City will aim to bring in three players in January, according to reports, which will cost them at least £100m.
