November 12, 2019, marks the third hospitalization of former US President Jimmy Carter this year, as he undergoes brain surgery at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

The 95-year-old Carter, the oldest living former president, has been experiencing pressure on his brain due to recent falls, prompting the procedure.

According to reports, Carter was hospitalized twice last month after falling in his home in Plains, Georgia, and required 14 stitches above his brow after hitting his forehead on a sharp edge.

He later received treatment for a minor pelvic fracture after his second fall.

During a public appearance in Nashville in October, Carter was spotted with a black eye, which he attributed to falling down.

“I fell down and hit my forehead on a sharp edge and had to go to the hospital where they took 14 stitches in my forehead and my eye is black, as you’ve noticed,” he said.
