On November 11, 2019, a disturbing video emerged showing police officers brutally assaulting students from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) in Kenya.

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has since launched an investigation into the incident, condemning the excessive force used by the police.

According to IPOA, the police officers involved in the assault will be held accountable for their actions, and the agency has called on witnesses to come forward and record statements.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for the police to be held accountable for their actions.

Although the police are allowed to use force under the National Police Service Act 2011, IPOA expressed disappointment at the unprofessional manner in which the police deployed their public order mechanisms during the operation.

Interior CS Fred Matiang'i has pledged to support the investigation and its findings.
