Published on November 12, 2019, a viral video sparked outrage after showing police brutally beating a JKUAT student.

Twitter's top trends included #StopPoliceBrutality and #JKUATLivesMatter, prompting a conversation on the morning show 'Kiss Conversation with Kamene and Kibe.'

Host Kamene was particularly affected by the video, thinking of her younger sister who is in university and could be in a similar situation.

Student president Clinton Osoro joined the conversation to explain the events leading up to the brutal beating.

Osoro stated, 'We've had meetings with the senate and even Juja sub-county security committee. We always come out of meetings and tell our students we've had meetings hoping for change but nothing is happening.'

He clarified that most of the insecurity cases are outside the university, with students living in areas prone to crime.

Osoro also revealed that the police were working with goons masquerading as Juja community members, throwing stones at students.

He expressed hope that the CS's promise to act on the policemen involved in the brutal beating would bring an end to police brutality.

However, the students are still waiting for justice to be served, and the student president has announced that they will not attend classes until their demands are met.
