Published on November 12, 2019, a mysterious disease outbreak in Bungoma County, Kenya, has left a trail of death and hospitalization. The disease, which has been affecting the residents of Sawa, Sirandafu, and Maloo villages in Webuye East Sub-County, has claimed the lives of three people and hospitalized over 120 others.
According to eyewitnesses, the disease started 60 days ago and has been spreading rapidly in the area. The symptoms of the disease include severe headache, back pain, swelling, and excessive sweating.
Speaking to TUKO, Mary Nangendo, a resident of Sawa village, expressed her concerns about the disease, saying, "We suspect that the disease is caused by contaminated water. Three people have died, and over 120 have been hospitalized."
Responding to the outbreak, the Bungoma County Health Department has dispatched medical officers to the affected area to contain the situation. The officers have taken water samples for testing to determine the cause of the disease.
Residents have been advised to avoid drinking water from the affected areas until further notice. The situation is being closely monitored, and efforts are being made to contain the outbreak.
