On November 12, 2019, a White Alert investigative piece aired on NTV exposed shocking details of increased aflatoxin levels in maize flour.
Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo pointed accusing fingers at Deputy President William Ruto and Orange Democratic Movement Chief Raila Odinga in response to a tweet by digital strategist Dennis Itumbi.
Itumbi had claimed that the Prime Minister's office gave instructions for the offloading and sale of imported maize from South Africa that had unacceptable levels of aflatoxins, causing liver cancer 10 years later.
Kabogo reminded Itumbi that DP Ruto was the Minister of Agriculture at the time and therefore should be held accountable.
"Baddy, who was the minister of Agriculture? That and the PM must be held accountable," Kabogo replied to Itumbi's tweet.
Itumbi further alleged that the poisonous imports were brought into the country through Raila's family, making ODM chief responsible.
