Published on November 12, 2019, a murder case in Kianda village, Igembe South, Meru County, has implicated Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka in a land dispute.
The dispute revolves around a 2,000-acre parcel of land in Amung'enti 'D' adjudication area, which belongs to five Meru clans.
Joseph King'ori M'Ikamati, the murder suspect, claims that Kalonzo Musyoka has interests in the land through proxies.
Through his lawyer, Kirimi Mbogo, M'Ikamati wants Kalonzo Musyoka to record a statement in connection to the October 4 chaos, in which one Mr George Mithika was killed.
M'Ikamati's lawyer alleged that Kalonzo Musyoka influenced investigations into the matter and was in constant communication with Meru County Commissioner Allan Machari, Igembe South Deputy County Commissioner James Koskey, and other senior officers.
The lawyer further claimed that prior to the killing, groups that enjoy Kalonzo Musyoka's support met at Nthanjene and Tumu Tumu police posts, took an oath, and vowed to evict all farmers from the area.
When questioned by the judge, the lawyer stated, 'When this report was filed and a police investigation undertaken, the arrest and prosecution of suspects began but was stopped, allegedly through the influence of the DCC and Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka.'
