President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto's visits to Murang'a County were cancelled due to the county's divisive politics, according to Senator Irungu Kang'ata.

Speaking on Inooro TV on Monday, Senator Kang'ata explained that the meetings were planned separately, with the President's visit being confirmed in May after a meeting at State House.

"The bishop was among those who had accompanied me and we had a chat with the President and this is when we invited him for the service," Senator Kang'ata said, recalling the meeting.

However, despite the agreement, the senator revealed that they had not received official communication to confirm the President's visit.

"His coming was confirmed on Thursday but unfortunately this also changed at the last minute," Senator Kang'ata said, expressing frustration over the cancellation.

Senator Kang'ata dismissed claims that President Uhuru was losing touch with people in the Mt. Kenya region, citing the government's efforts to benefit the locals.

"All is not lost, I am sure the President will be coming soon. I am just urging the people to exercise patience," Senator Kang'ata said.
