On November 11, 2019, Nyali Member of Parliament Mohamed Ali, alias Moha Jicho Pevu, launched a scathing attack on Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i during a rally in Magongo town, Mombasa County.

Speaking at the rally, the vocal legislator declared that the relationship between Mombasa county and Matiang'i, as well as his Transport Cabinet Secretary counterpart James Macharia and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, was officially over.

According to Mohamed, the loss of revenue by logistics industry firms following the Transport CS's directive that Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) is to be the only way to transport cargo from Mombasa to Nairobi has paralyzed logistics firms.

He further alleged that Governor Joho was one of the few people behind the foreign-owned SGR, saying, “SGR si biashara ya Kenya, ni biashara ya mamluki ambao wameigawanya na mmoja kati yao ni Governor Ali Hassan Joho, which simply means SGR isn’t Kenyan, it’s a business run by foreigners and governor Ali Hassan Joho is one of them.”

He vowed to fight CS Matiang'i to death, saying, “We will not allow you to kill Mombasa’s economy. Before you kill us, we will kill you.”
