On Sunday, Kenyan nurses in the United States gave back to the community by conducting a health screening exercise in Austell, Georgia.
Organized by the Kenyan Nurses in Diaspora (KENID), a non-profit organization formed by Kenyan nurses in the US, the event provided free medical services to the public.
During the exercise, which took place between 2 pm and 6 pm, people were screened for cholesterol, diabetes, and high blood pressure, among other health issues.
Other services included dental checkups, psychotherapy, breast cancer screenings with referrals to free mammograms, and stroke education.
Established in November 2018, KENID aims to empower Kenyan nurses abroad and help them maximize their potential as they serve the community both locally and in Kenya.
The organization has already established representations in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Texas, and California, with a vision to reach all US states, Canada, and Europe.
