Kenya's Olympic Dream Ends in Zambia

On November 11, 2019, Kenya's Harambee Starlets bid to participate in the 2020 Olympics in Japan was dashed after losing 0-1 to Zambia in the qualifiers.

The match, played at the Nkouma Stadium in Lusaka, saw Lushomo Mweemba score the decisive goal in the 58th minute, securing Zambia's 3-2 aggregate win and a spot in the next round of the qualifiers.

The Kenyan team, coached by David Ouma, had drawn 2-2 with Zambia in the first leg played in Nairobi on November 8, 2019, and needed a win to progress. However, their hopes were crushed by the 0-1 loss, ending their Olympic dream.

With this defeat, Zambia will now face the winner of the Ivory Coast-Cameroon tie in the next round of the qualifiers.
