On November 11, 2019, Fifa announced that Jamal Emil Malinzi, the former president of Tanzania's football association, had been suspended from all football-related activities for 10 years.
Malinzi, who served as head of the Tanzanian federation between 2013 and 2017, was found guilty of misappropriating funds from Fifa, the African Confederation, and his national federation.
He admitted to the financial misconduct and was fined 455,700 euros ($503,000).
As part of Fifa's Forward Development Programme, a team was sent to Tanzania in April to establish a new financial management system, including document filing systems and accounting software.
The move aimed to improve financial governance in the East African nation, which currently ranks 133rd in the Fifa rankings.
