Published on November 11, 2019, a woman's decision to try skin bleaching has left her with a permanent reminder of the dangers of altering one's natural skin tone.

With the increasing popularity of skin bleaching, many women are turning to these products in an attempt to achieve a lighter complexion. However, the risks associated with skin bleaching are very real, and Owethu Mlilo from Witbank is the latest victim of its devastating consequences.

According to Mlilo, she was recommended the bleaching cream by a friend who had achieved good results with it. Despite her initial reservations, she decided to try the cream, hoping to achieve faster results than her previous attempts.

However, the cream had the opposite effect, causing her skin to become irritated and leading to the appearance of black spots. As the spots increased in number and size, Mlilo realized that she had made a grave mistake.

Now, Mlilo is left to deal with the consequences of her actions, including severe skin discoloration and a loss of confidence. She has taken to wearing long-sleeved clothes, hats, and sunglasses to cover up her skin, and is even considering wearing a hijab to conceal her appearance.

Mlilo's experience serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of skin bleaching. She urges other women to be proud of their natural skin tone and to avoid attempting to change it.
