Leaders from Jubilee Party Celebrate Mariga's Defeat ¶
Leaders from Jubilee party celebrated the defeat of their candidate, Bernard Mariga, in the Kibra by-election, which was held on November 10, 2019.
Despite the party's candidate being endorsed by President Uhuru Kenyatta, some leaders from Jubilee party openly declared their support for ODM candidate Imran Okoth.
Among those who attended the celebrations were Maina Kamanda, the MP-elect for Kibra, and James Nyoro, the Deputy Governor of Kiambu County.
James Nyoro, who was present at the celebrations, said that Kiambu County was behind Raila Odinga and that they would support Imran Okoth in the future.
"Baba Kiambu iko na wewe, na ulete Imran huko Kiambu kwa sababu ndiye mtoto wetu wa kwanza wa handisheki. Alafu baadaye utuletee BBI tupitishe," Nyoro said.
Joshua Kutuny, the MP for Cherangany, also attended the celebrations and said that Jubilee party had been defeated in Kibra and that the party's headquarters would be a 'no-go zone' for Deputy President William Ruto in 2022.
"Ifikapo mwaka wa 2022, Ikulu itakuwa ni 'no-go zone' kwa DP Ruto kwa sababu atapoteza kama alivyopoteza Kibra," Kutuny said.
Other leaders from Jubilee party who attended the celebrations included Dennis Waweru, the former MP for Dagoreti South.
