On November 11, 2019, a dramatic turn of events unfolded in Kitui County as detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested four suspects in connection to a robbery with violence at Wikilaylie market.
The suspects, identified as Musembi Musyoka, 42, Kasola Nzulya, 46, Peter Mwendwa, and Sylvester Onyango, 35, were linked to a gang of six that had committed a crime in Nguuni Trading Centre.
According to the DCI, the gang had attacked and robbed a man of Sh 70,000, three mobile phones, and Safaricom credit cards, leaving him injured in the process.
‘Detectives pursued and intercepted the vehicle they were using after conducting a robbery at Nguuni Trading Centre,’ read a statement by the DCI, quoting their initial report.
During the arrest, the detectives recovered a Patchet SMG sub-machine gun with several rounds of ammunition, two pangas, and an M-Pesa operation phone.
The suspects’ getaway vehicle has been impounded pending further investigations as a manhunt for the two fugitive suspects continues.
