On Sunday night, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) apprehended four suspects in connection with a robbery with violence incident at Wikilaylie market in Kitui County.

The suspects, who were part of a six-man gang, had attacked and injured a man before stealing Ksh. 70,000, three mobile phones, and Safaricom credit cards at Nguuni Trading Centre.

The arrested individuals are Musembi Musyoka, 42, and Kasola Nzulya, 46, both former inmates of Kamiti Maximum Prison, 43-year-old Peter Mwendwa, a former Malindi Prison convict, and Silvester Onyango, 35.

According to reports, the suspects were intercepted after detectives pursued and stopped the vehicle they used to flee the scene of the crime.

A Patchet SMG sub-machine gun, several rounds of ammunition, two pangas, and an M-Pesa operation phone were recovered during the operation.

The suspects' vehicle was detained pending further investigations, while a manhunt for the two remaining suspects who escaped continues.
