On November 11, 2019, Diana Marua spoke about a sensitive topic affecting mothers with new babies: postpartum depression.

As a new mother herself, having just welcomed her second biological child, Diana shared how her husband Bahati's actions fueled her postpartum depression.

Postpartum depression is a condition linked to chemical, social, and psychological changes associated with having a baby. It describes a range of physical and emotional changes that many new mothers experience.

Fortunately, postpartum depression can be treated with medication and counseling, according to WebMD.

The chemical changes involved in postpartum depression are still not fully understood, but it is known that the levels of estrogen and progesterone, the female reproductive hormones, increase tenfold during pregnancy and then drop sharply after delivery.

Speaking about her experience, Diana said on her YouTube channel, 'I remember at that particular time my hubby became busy out of the blue, all of a sudden. He would come home late, and when he arrived, he just wanted to sleep.'

She continued, 'In the morning, he would tell me he had an early meeting, and I would be with the baby all day, breastfeeding, changing diapers, and doing everything, but the baby would still be crying and fussy, and I wouldn't know what to do.'

Diana advised new mothers to cultivate positivity and encouraged men, including her husband, to take a two-week paternity leave to bond with the baby and support the wife during that challenging period.
