On November 5th, 2019, just two days before the hotly contested Kibra by-election, ANC party Secretary General Barack Muluka launched a scathing attack on Raila Odinga, calling him the biggest liability to Kenyan politics.

Muluka also threatened to sue Raila for linking him to the Goldenberg scandal, according to his statement.

However, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi has since disowned Muluka, saying he does not speak for him and never will.

Speaking on Citizen TV's Day Break show, hosted by Sam Gituku, Mudavadi stated, 'Let me make it categorically clear. Muluka does not speak for me and I do not associate with his sentiments against the ODM or any other party. He has his own beliefs, certainly some of which I do not subscribe to.'

Mudavadi also expressed his disappointment with Raila, saying he was not grateful for the support ANC and other parties had given him over the years and 'should now look elsewhere for beasts of burden, as he seems to be doing.'
