On November 11, 2019, a police officer based at Nanyuki Police Station was rushed to Mathari Hospital in Nyeri County with serious injuries after jumping off the window of his house at the police quarters.

According to Laikipia County Police Commander Maxwell Nyaema, the officer, Harrison Karagu, was asleep when he jumped off the window of his house at the police lines at night while sleepwalking.

Nyaema stated that Karagu sustained deep cuts on his arms and legs in the incident, which occurred at around 10 pm.

The officer was initially taken to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital for first aid before being transferred to Mathari Hospital.

Nyaema ruled out any possibility of Karagu trying to commit suicide, describing him as a hardworking and responsible officer.

He urged people to desist from speculating that Karagu was depressed or frustrated, saying that the officer was in stable condition.
