On November 11, 2019, Guinness World Records recognized John Henderson, 106, and his wife Charlotte, 105, of Austin, Texas, as the world's oldest living couple.

The couple, who have been married for 80 years, have a combined age of 211 years and are set to celebrate their milestone anniversary next month.

John and Charlotte met at The University of Texas in 1943, where Charlotte was pursuing a teaching career and John was a member of the football team, according to CNN.

They tied the knot in 1939 and spent their honeymoon in a hotel room, where they accumulated a modest bill of $7.

Today, the couple resides at Longhorn Village, a senior living community associated with a University of Texas alumni group.

John, who remains active and exercises every day, attributes the secret to a happy marriage to living life in moderation and being cordial to one's spouse.
