As the economic pressure mounts on families in Kenya, the need for transparency and accountability in harambee fundraising has never been more pressing.

At a recent fund-raiser for a local club, the actual sum realised remains a mystery, with nobody knowing how much of the collected money has been spent.

According to records, Sh4 million was collected at the Crowne Plaza Harambee, contradicting earlier reports of Sh2.7 million.

Club officials have been accused of misusing funds, with some supporters questioning the lack of transparency and accountability in the use of harambee cash.

With the absence of sponsors, fans play a crucial role in supporting the club, and it is essential that the proceeds are used for the benefit of the team.

Transparency and accountability are critical for ensuring that resources are used effectively, and the club's official website should publish regular updates on the use of harambee funds.

Notable donations included Sh1 million from Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli, Sh1 million from Deputy President William Ruto, and Sh200,000 from the Director of Immigration.

Other contributors included ODM leader Raila Odinga, Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, and Sports Minister Amina Mohamed.
