On November 10, 2019, the University of Nairobi (UON) Dynamites became the first team to seal their spot in the semi-finals of the 2019 Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) women's Premier League.

They achieved this feat by beating Zetech University Sparks 49-47 in game two of the quarter-final play-offs at Nyayo Gymnasium, securing a 2-0 victory.

Trizah Akeyo was the star player for Dynamites, leading her team to double victory with 15 points. Valerie Kemunto and Faith Atieno also contributed 10 points each for Dynamites, while Jackline Kogo and Naomi Bosibori scored 10 and nine points for Zetech respectively.

UON coach Kent Juma expressed satisfaction with their performance, stating that their aim was to win the first two games, which would give them adequate time to prepare for the semis.

"We have achieved our first target because we wanted to have adequate time for the players to write their exams as well as prepare for the semis. The girls have done well so far and I believe they will give a good fight in the semi-final," Kent said.

Strathmore University Swords were also in action, but unfortunately, they were unable to secure a spot in the semi-finals after Storms levelled the score 1-1, taking the game to the wire with a 70-54 victory.
