Published on November 10, 2019, Raila Odinga, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader, hailed the Kibra by-election victory as a significant step towards the 2022 general election.
Speaking at a thanksgiving rally at DC Grounds in Nairobi, Mr. Odinga said the victory showed Kenyans were ready to abandon politics of tribalism and discrimination, aligning with the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) goals.
"The by-election has shown that tribalism will no longer decide elections as Imran received votes from all tribes," he said.
Mr. Odinga further emphasized that the Kibra by-election set an example, demonstrating that Kenyans were tired of politics of lies and that money could not decide an election.
He also criticized Deputy President William Ruto for blaming ODM for violence in Kibra, likening him to a bat that deceives others and referred to him as a "two-faced politician".
Mr. Odinga further castigated his political nemesis, saying he became bitter after losing the parliamentary seat despite spending a fortune trying to woo voters.
