On November 10, 2019, a dramatic confrontation unfolded in Nairobi's Kasarani area when a shopkeeper, Richard Muema, attempted to fight off two armed robbers. The incident, captured on CCTV footage, showed the robbers entering the shop and demanding cash and valuables from the shopkeeper.
As the situation escalated, Muema, who had been lying on the ground, sprang up and hit one of the suspects on the head. The two men wrestled to the entrance of the shop, resulting in the pistol discharging and Muema being shot and seriously wounded. The suspects escaped on foot, leaving behind a trail of violence.
Police have since launched a manhunt for the two gunmen, urging members of the public to help identify them. Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti appealed for assistance in tracing the suspects, stating, 'Any person with any information about their identity can contact DCI.' Meanwhile, police are also investigating the murder of two police officers who were ambushed and shot in the Njiru area of Nairobi on Friday morning.
