On November 10, 2019, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) blamed Deputy President William Ruto for the violence witnessed in Kibra and Ganda Ward, Kilifi County, during the by-elections.

According to ODM, Ruto's actions were a result of frustration following the party's wins in the by-elections.

ODM's statement, signed by Director of Elections Junet Mohamed and Nairobi branch chairman George Aladwa, accused Ruto of using violence to intimidate Jubilee Party's agents and supporters in Kibra.

The party also alleged that Ruto's team was involved in voter bribery, fear-mongering, and lies during the by-elections.

ODM further accused Ruto of hypocrisy, saying he condemned violence and bribery where they never existed while ignoring them where they did.

Investigations into the incidents are ongoing, with the Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji stating that those who instigated the violence in Kibra will be held personally responsible once police investigations are concluded.
