On November 10, 2019, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced the discovery of a massive new oil field, which is set to boost the country's energy reserves.
The new field, located in the southwestern province of Khuzestan, covers an area of 2,400 square kilometres and contains an estimated 53 billion barrels of crude oil.
This significant find will increase Iran's proven reserves by approximately a third, marking a major milestone for the country's energy sector.
