Club Brugge's Mbaye Diagne has been punished for missing a crucial penalty against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on November 6, 2019.

According to reports, Diagne denied Hans Vanaken the chance to take the spot-kick, which ultimately led to the Belgian side's defeat.

Diagne's decision to take the penalty himself proved costly as his effort was saved by Keylor Navas, leaving the team's coach, Philippe Clement, fuming.

Clement confirmed on November 8, 2019, that Diagne would face punishment for his actions, which included suspension from the team's Sunday league match against Royal Antwerp.

Additionally, Diagne will also face a heavy financial penalty, as revealed by Clement during a press briefing.

Club Brugge currently sits third in Group A of the Champions League with 2 points, and will need to win their final two games against Galatasaray and Real Madrid to have any chance of progressing to the last 16.
