On November 9th, 2019, the Wasafi Festival in Dar Es Salaam took place, but one notable absence was Kenyan singer Ali Kiba. The reason behind his non-appearance is a story of a heated exchange between Kiba and Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz.

According to sources, Diamond Platnumz's manager, Babu Tale, reached out to Kiba to inquire about his availability to perform at the festival. However, Kiba took to social media to express his anger and disappointment, stating that he had been misled by Diamond Platnumz.

During a press conference for the release of Kiba's song, 'Mshumma', he was questioned about his comparison of Diamond Platnumz to a pencil. Kiba explained that he meant that Diamond Platnumz should focus on his music and not engage in petty squabbles.

WCB manager, Babu Tale, later released a statement denying any beef between Kiba and Diamond Platnumz, stating that Kiba had already informed him that he would not be attending the festival. He also clarified that Kiba's comparison of Diamond Platnumz to a pencil was meant to convey that he should focus on his music and not engage in unnecessary drama.
