DP Ruto Demands Raila's Apology Over Kibra Violence

Deputy President William Ruto has called on ODM leader Raila Odinga to apologize to the public for the chaos and violence witnessed in Kibra during the by-election.

Speaking in Gilgil on November 9, 2019, DP Ruto said that the ODM party had trained youth to attack Jubilee supporters.

He emphasized that Raila must take responsibility and apologize to the public for the violence.

DP Ruto stated, 'We cannot have youth gangs being used to intimidate voters as we witnessed in Kibra. The ODM party must take responsibility and apologize to the public.'

He added, 'We are telling them to publicly announce that they are apologizing, the road to chaos, intimidation, and violence is not ours, it's theirs.'

Other leaders present at the event echoed DP Ruto's sentiments, warning that the violence witnessed in Kibra could lead to worse scenarios in future elections.

Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua said that it's impossible for people not to have youth gangs, and that everyone should have their own defense mechanism.

He stated, 'No one is without youth gangs, and if that's the case, then everyone should be told to find their own youth gangs to defend themselves.'

He added, 'It seems like the police are not doing their job, and that's why everyone should have their own defense mechanism.'

Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has called on the authorities to take action against those involved in the Kibra violence.

He stated, 'If we don't take action against those involved, then we will have a problem in the future.'

He added, 'With another by-election coming up, it will be a big problem because people will not be voting based on policies, but based on who has the most youth gangs.'
