Counterfeit Books and Goods Seized in Namanga

On November 9, 2019, the Anti-Counterfeit Authority made a significant seizure at the Namanga border crossing in Kajiado, intercepting a large shipment of counterfeit secondary school books and other goods.

The goods, valued at Sh22,115,880, were being smuggled into Kenya from Tanzania and included a range of set books, as well as assorted shoes and other items.

According to Mr. Abdi Hussein, an official at the agency, the seized items included 8,736 copies of The Pearl published by New Longman Literature, 6,720 copies of The Inheritance published by Longhorn, 16,200 copies of A Doll’s House published by the East Africa Educational Publisher, and 4,800 copies of Memories We Lost published by Moran.

Additionally, the officials seized 1,800 pieces of imperial leather soaps and 1,860 pieces of door locks, as well as shoes from brands such as Nike, Gucci, Fila, and Adidas.
