Shabana's unbeaten home record came to an end as Kenya Police won 2-1 at the Gusii Stadium on Saturday, November 9, 2019.
The match marked Kenya Police's fifth win in a row, a testament to their determination to seal promotion at the end of the season.
Coached by Andrew Kanuli, Shabana have struggled in their away matches, registering four losses, one win, and two draws.
Kenya Police's victory was sealed in the first half, with David Okiki and David Oruoch scoring for the visitors, while Ivorian Traore Aboue netted the only goal for the hosts.
Shabana's coach, Andrew Kanuli, attributed the defeat to laxity from his defenders, who were unable to control easy passes and had poor communication.
"We dominated the game in the first fifteen minutes but regrettably my boys were unable to convert scoring opportunities," he said.
The match was played in a nearly empty stadium, as most of the home fans had boycotted the fixture over hiked gate charges.
Shabana's fans have been protesting the new gate charges, which have increased from Sh50 to Sh100 for those watching from the terraces and from Sh50 to Sh200 for VIP seats.
"We are not against the new charges but we need accountability from the management. They are not ready to tell us how they spend the money after the matches," said Isaac Momanyi, a fan.
Shabana will face APS Bomet in Kericho in their next match, while Kenya Police will play Vihiga Bullets.
