Harambee Starlets' Tokyo Olympics qualifier campaign hangs in the balance after a 2-2 draw against Zambia in the first leg at Kasarani Stadium on Friday, November 8, 2019.

Coach David Ouma's team must now secure a win or a scoring draw in the return leg on Monday in Lusaka to keep their hopes alive.

One of the major concerns for Starlets was their defense, which conceded two cheap goals in the first half. Captain Dorcas Shikobe was a rare bright spot in the backline, but her teammates must step up their game.

Starlets' midfield was also dominated by Zambia's Margaret Belemu, who was instrumental in her team's performance. Coach Ouma must find a solution to deal with Belemu's influence in the return leg.

Another area of concern for Starlets was their inability to utilize their most potent player, Mwanahalima Adam. Adam's legs are full of goals, but she was often dropped deep in the middle of the park, making it difficult for her to create clear-cut chances.

Starlets' substitutes also failed to make an impact, with Gentrix Shikangwa having little or zero impact when she came on. The team would have stood a chance to grab a late winner had the substitutes caused some havoc in Zambia's defense.

Despite being on the receiving end of a 3-0 defeat in their previous meeting, Zambia showed an assured performance this time around. They looked more dangerous with the ball and passed it with fluidity, always looking like they were about to score the next minute.
