Kenya's Shooting Team Prepares for Tokyo 2020 Olympics Qualifier

On November 7, 2019, Airrifle Operator Priscilla Mburu was in training at the Nairobi Sailing and Sub Aqua Club in Nairobi, preparing for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifier.

The national shooting team is gearing up for the Africa qualifier, scheduled to take place in Tipasa, Algeria, from November 17-24, 2019. This event will also serve as the Africa Championships.

The team of 14 athletes, comprising nine men and six women, will compete in the men's 10m Air Pistol and women's events. Notable team members include 2015 Africa champion Gulraaj Sehmi, David Kirui, Christopher Saina, Maurice Morara, Idris Kasmani, and Francis Kinyua, who will compete in the men's event, while Maryanne Cherotich, Linet Owiti, Dorin Okiri, and Jane Wanjiru will represent the women's team.

Under the guidance of India's Olympics bronze medallist Gagan Narang, the shooting team is honing its skills in preparation for the upcoming qualifier.
