Kenyan striker Michael Olunga is on the cusp of a historic achievement in the Japanese League 2, with his team, Kashiwa Reysol, needing just one win to be crowned champions.

On November 11, Olunga scored his 19th goal of the season, helping his side secure a 3-0 win over Kagoshima United.

With Reysol having played 40 matches, they now hold a six-point lead over second-placed Omiya Ardija, who have a game in hand.

Reysol's victory has strengthened their grip on the top spot, and a single win will secure their promotion to the J1 League at the first time of asking.

Michael Olunga will return to his national team, Harambee Stars, to prepare for their 2021 African Cup of Nations matches against Egypt and Togo.
