On November 9, 2019, Tusker and Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) clashed in a Kenyan Premier League match at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru. The match saw KCB take an early lead, but Tusker's late penalty denied them victory.
Reagan Otieno scored for KCB in the 15th minute, connecting with Benson Amianda's cross with a sweet volley that left Robert Mboya with no chance in the Tusker goal. However, the hosts' joy was short-lived as defender Bethuel Warambo was given his marching orders by referee Carolyne Wanjala for a high boot on Michael Madoya in the 32nd minute.
Despite being a man down, KCB threatened to increase their lead, but Tusker's Timothy Otieno equalized in the 90th minute with a penalty awarded by referee Wanjala after a KCB defender handled a goal-bound shot.
Coach Zedekiah Otieno of KCB expressed his frustration with the referee's decision, stating, 'We have not drawn against Tusker. We have lost to a biased referee. I normally restrain myself against talking ill of match referees but today the centre referee messed up and denied us victory.'
Tusker coach Robert Matano attributed their slow start to the loss of concentration, saying, 'We lost concentration early and KCB capitalised. We took long to come back to the game until we recovered in the last 10 minutes.'
